Free speech is under attack on taxpayer funded college and university campuses across Arizona – the very place where rigorous debate and intellectual diversity should be embraced. According to The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), only one such campus in Arizona has policies in place that nominally protect free speech.
Here in our state and across the nation, we’ve seen speakers and students shouted down over their beliefs. American citizens have the right to freely demonstrate in public places, as long as their conduct is not unlawful and does not materially and substantially disrupt the functioning of the institution.
Free speech isn’t a privilege, it’s a right that belongs to every American. Contact your lawmakers today and tell them to protect free speech on Arizona’s publicly funded college and university campuses by by supporting HB2563!
